An Early Christmas Present

Journal

I’ve just had an early Christmas present. The feature of this months House & Garden magazine showcases a project very close to my heart – the Cocking family’s  Guildford House. I’m so grateful for the generosity of Chimene and Barry and all my clients who cheerfully welcome these magazine writers into their homes.

I’m thrilled with this beautiful feature and moved to see the Guildford House looking so gorgeous. You can see the full set of images at House & Garden Christmas Edition.

This has been the most exciting year for me. SHA has picked up several awards and we are thrilled to have our work recognised in this way.

One of my personal highlights was showing my father, architect Peter Hunt, through the Bedfordale House which later went on to win the 2014 HIA Home of the Year. I’m so grateful to Tena and Terry Wheeler who made us feel welcome and said so many kind things about working with me. Sadly, Dad passed away in November after a long and feisty battle with cancer.  That visit to Bedfordale was discussed many times and will always be a very special memory for me.

Like so many other families we will be missing someone this Christmas. We’ll also be celebrating those who are with us. Our kids are safe and going about their young lives. There will be cereal bowls left out around the house. There will be wet beach towels abandoned here and there. Our family is home for the summer and I feel blessed have them.

All the best for a safe and peaceful Christmas.
