I Love Beautiful Sustainable Australian Timber

Journal

We’ve just been featured in Australian Timber magazine. It’s a profile piece about the evolution of our practice and our passion for Australian timber.

I love working with wood. The colour and the texture bring so much warmth and comfort to a home. Wood communicates a kind of strength, permanence and earthiness. In a hectic world the spaces built with timber can feel serene and replenishing.

We use a lot of timber in our projects. This was certainly true in the case of the Bedfordale House. We were really excited to pick up the Australian Timber Design Interior Fitout Residential Award for that project.

That award was a wonderful acknowledgement of what our team achieved. We felt encouraged by it. The award helped us reach out to people who, like us, love quality timber and what it brings to a family home.

It has introduced us to some amazing people and given us the opportunity to create some beautiful work.

I think timber appeals to people because it is such an honest material. It connects us to nature. It feels comforting to be around.

After this rather crazy year I think a lot of us are looking for things that nourish the soul. In its own quiet way timber brings to mind things that are solid, honest and long lasting. Here’s the Australian Timber feature, Architecture Nourishes People’s Lives.
